DENTURES/PARTIALS

What are Dentures and Partials?

Complete dentures are typically worn when you are missing an entire arch of your natural teeth. Partials are more suited for patients who still have most of their own healthy natural teeth, but are missing enough to warrant a removable denture appliance. The partial clips onto your existing teeth and can be removed each night to be cleaned. Both full and partial dentures help to improve the look of your smile as well as oral functionality.

Why are Dentures and Partials needed?

When you’re missing many or all of your teeth, you’ll find that it’s difficult to both feel confident as well as enjoy your favorite foods. This can greatly impact your quality of life and the desire to spend time with friends and relatives. With a denture, whether full or partial, you’re finally able to eat the foods you love and smile with confidence. Most prosthetic appliances can easily last for up to seven years without showing any signs of wear.

Who is a candidate for Dentures and Partials?

We can examine your teeth to determine if you might benefit from a denture. In some cases, patients will need to have extractions done before a prosthesis can be made for them. This is especially true in the case of patients who have advanced gum disease and who have decayed or loose teeth. In this instance, we’ll recommend extractions before any type of denture is made.

What happens during the procedure for Dentures and Partials?

We take impressions of your mouth and use these molds to craft a new denture for you. Your second visit into the office involves fitting the denture and making adjustments when and where needed. Your denture should be removed each night to keep it clean and free of plaque and bacteria. If your denture begins to show signs of wear, it’s best to bring it in for repair or replacement. Most dentures can easily last for five to seven years before they may begin to show signs of disrepair.

If you think you might need either a denture or partial, call us today and our friendly staff members can further assist you.
